        5. Jeff Francoeur, OF
        HT: 6-4 WT: 200 Bats: R Throws: R 2003 AGE: 19 on 1/08/03

The Skinny: The Braves have made a habit out of drafting Georgia-based high school players in the first round, with Wainwright (2000), McBride (2001), and now Francoeur, whom the Braves selected with the 23rd pick of the 2002 draft. After a month of negotiations, he received a $2.2 million bonus -- the ninth highest amount from his draft class. The delay in signing limited his professional debut to six weeks, but Francoeur quickly adjusted to professional baseball, finishing in style with two home runs in the final game of the season. Francoeur is a classic five-tool outfielder, hitting for average and power while showing excellent speed on the basepaths. An outstanding defensive player with excellent range and a plus arm, he will most likely move to right field as he fills out. Francoeur is still a bit rough around the edges. He abandoned a football scholarship to Clemson to play for the Braves, and he has never before concentrated solely on baseball. The Braves absolutely rave about his attitude and work ethic.

2003 Outlook: Francoeur's outstanding debut was a surprise only in the short time it took for him to achieve success as a pro. He'll spend his first full season with the Braves' new Sally League team in Rome.

Dammit, I thought this was a post about Parliament-Funkadelic, the greatest musicians of all time. Oh well, I should've known something like that wouldn't come up in a baseball page.
The New England Patriots cheated to win four Super Bowls.
