ASB: For those who fall between vet & all star

okay, i know i've been posting on this 'in between level alot' lately, but understand i'm just trying to come up with a way to achieve realistic results with MY playing ability. so call me a wuss if you'd like BUT I THINK I'VE GOT IT!!!

I was recalling when I used to play a table-top baseball game called 'Statis-Pro' (it was a great game) anyways there was a feature that determined wether a pitcher was going to have 'good stuff' or 'bad stuff' as in movement etc...

well, I thought this would be an easy feature to add to ASB, so every time the cpu brings a new pitcher in i will flip a coin,
    heads, i play on all-star
    tails, i play on veteran

okay, before you knock it think,
if a pitcher like R. Johnson has 'good stuff' (heads) he will likely dominate me the whole game, the most I can hope to do is get his pitch count up and into the 'pen, like real life.
if a pitcher has 'bad stuff' (tails) they get roughed up early a mid reliever could come in w/ 'good stuff' and keep the game within reach giving his team a chance to come back.

    any thoughts?

Hey man, whatever you're happy with

(Devil's Advocate speaking): Is it really fair to say that a pitcher like Randy Johnson has the same odds of having good vs. bad stuff as someone like C.J. Nitkowski (50/50)?

That's a good point, maybe I could get a ten-sided die and come up with good day/bad day ratings based on WHIP.
Although, Johnson is tough to hit even on veteran so his bad day is still better than some guys' good day.

exactly. A bad day from a good pitcher might mean 3 runs. A bad day from Nitkowski might be 3 runs in a third of an inning.

just tried it vs the braves. Despite Hampton, Hernandez and Gryboski all getting a tails (veteran), they shut me out allowing me only 5 hits and 3 BB while striking out 3. That is what is great about this game, not that I enjoyed being shut down, but just making contact was not enough.

                    That was a GREAT game!
It's funny, but I'm using a random number generator to tackle the injury issue. So you're not the only one adding outside influence to adjust some of the games difficiencies as we see them.

I'm glad to hear you gave it a shot. I have been shut down by good pitching on veteran level too, but I do have a chance at having a big day on veteran, i have no chance on all-star, only a chance to win 3-2 or maybe 4-3. Plus, guys like Santiago and Snow would have no chance at hitting a homerun if I played the whole season on all-star (Snow still doesn't have one, I'm in July) This method gives the mediocre players a chance to get their numbers too.

ok, the coin has landed 4 more times on tails, much to the dismay of Altanta who I just pounded 10-2. Oh well, sucks for them.
