Yes, I am biased but I think that Yadier Molina is one of the better catchers in the MLB as of right now. He has had trouble hitting early in his career but has come alive since 2 years ago. Also, he has been noted as one of the hardest batters to strike out as he only struck out 29 times in 444 AB last year. He is arguably the best defensive catcher in the MLB which is always the main focus for any catcher.
Yadi v.s. Martin
( I qouted this from the thread )
In his career, Yadi has allowed 120 SB's, caught 110 stealing and has 28 pickoffs in 4357.1 innings. Martin in his career has allowed 229 SB's, caught 99 stealing and has 5 pickoffs in 3646 innings. And if you project martin's stats over 4357.1 innings, its 274 SB's, 118 CS's, and 6 PO's. That would mean Molina allows 154 fewer SB's, while, if you include pickoffs (cause there pretty much the same as a CS), catching 25 more runners stealing. or over 150 games, molina allows 47 fewer SB's, while catching 8 more runners stealing.
Defense is the most important thing for a catcher and Yadi, already having stellar defense, is getting a whole better at hitting.
I'd like to hear your opinions about this and in your mind who the best overall catcher in the game is today.
