    Wouldn't this be awesome???

I was just sitting here playing WSB thinking about how cool it would be to have this feature in baseball (or any sport) video games...

What if as long as you were connected to the internet, whenever you turned on your console, it would download updates that are in-line with current baseball? Meaning, if they originally gave someone a low batting rating, but he has proven that he can hit, his rating would go up a bit (ala Hee Seop Choi showing that he has power). Also, instead guys just randomly getting hurt, when they are hurt in real life, they would be hurt in the game.

There is an endless number of possibilities that they could do with this. All they would have to do is make the changes on a server and then it would auto-download for us. Of course, I think the only way to do this is to allow you to turn the feature on or off, as some people may not want to do that. However, personally, I know I try hard to make my roster as similiar to the pros as possible, so this would bring it one step closer.

If they added this feature, do you think you would like it?

Yeah, but it's not without it's flaws... Franchise is the biggest selling feature to sports games today, mainly because you can trim what YOU consider the fat, and bring on any players you want, and WSB has a budget and payroll and stuff.... should that get updated too? You'll get screwed and nobody will wanna use the low-budget teams. I like to "initially" start my line-ups as close to real as possible, then deal away and bring on people I'd want..

Problem with the injury thing... say you're 3 months into a season, and the REAL season is 2 weeks in, and a player gets hurt in real life, how will that translate into your franchise?

Well, just don't do it for franchise.

I remember the first Inside Drive on the PC had a 'Play Today's Games" feature. You would click there, and it had a list of today's games on the NBA schedule. They were just done as exhibition games, but there was a simple list you could choose from.

With online, you could go in, pick "play today's game", and it could give you today's weather, starting lineup, pitchers, injury status, etc. ...

That's what I mean though.... franchise is the main feature out there today in sports game, and to have this feature basically force you to nullify it might be kinda harsh...

Besides, I'd be hella pissed if I'm using the Penguins in NHL2K3 and all of a sudden one day they deal Kovie to the Rangers for prospects and cash without my consent... lol

biggest problem with this is if you make any adjustments to your team in franchise mode then how is the comp. going to know where to find or move some of the players you have traded or whatever. chances are its not.doesn't wsb have an edit mode to fix any player like all star does? if not too bad

I think this would be a good and a bad idea. Some of the lower rated players in the game hit pretty good for me. While in real baseball they aren't hitting good.

Well, I didn't think it would only run simulataneous with real baseball (although that would be cool), but what I mean is just real time updating for everything. So, if you started a season today, Griffey Jr. would be hurt because he is currently hurt in real life. Then once he's back, he's back for you.

As far as trades and stuff, that's why I said it would have to give you the option of letting it take 'control' of your team because it would essentially try to make it as close to real life as possible.

As far as what about guys who have low ratings who are doing good for you: their rating wouldn't be lowered unless they're doing terrible in real life, so they would continue to do the same. Also, for superstars who may be in a slump or something, their rating wouldn't automatically go down, just as if some nobody hit 3 hrs. in one game he wouldn't get some awesome ratings. It would definitely have it's flaws and things to be worked out.

Basically, it is a really pumped up roster update, but that updates all the time, includes injuries, improves guys who they weren't sure how they would be when they made ratings and more.

I guess the best way I can describe it is it would be a mix of fantasy baseball and video games in one.
