The Indians plan to call up Matt LaPorta, Luis Valbuena and Josh Barfield prior to Saturday's game.

Trevor Crowe and Tony Graffanino will be exiled, while reliever Joe Smith (shoulder) will be placed on the DL. Manager Eric Wedge supposedly said LaPorta would serve "as a complement to David Dellucci," which is a complete joke if he really meant it. Calling up Valbuena to serve as a backup for three regulars who won't sit very often is a ridiculous move -- it makes much more sense for him to play regularly in Triple-A -- but LaPorta will be of immediate use with Hafner on the disabled list. Still, Wedge has to be trusted to use him correctly and we have less faith in him by the day.

If Wedgie actually follows through on making Matt a platoon player with Dellucci, he's an idiot... and he really does deserve to be fired.

Still, American League be warned... this guy gets his playing time and we've got the 2009 AL ROY in LF starting tomorrow!

Laporta needs to start everyday, doesn't matter where if he hits as well as he has down in Columbus so far he could be a big part in this team finding their winning ways.

Seriously though, if LaPorta hits the platoon won't last long. Dellucci; Francisco; and Choo can fight it out for RF and the 4th OF job.

I don't see the harm in letting him platoon early on. If he's good, he'll bust that platoon up and earn the everyday job.

IMO he should be the everyday starter in left because of Ben Francisco's lack of production at the plate.

Yeah if your not going to play him, keep him down in Columbus. At least he was developing and getting at-bats there.

Not real surprised that he is not playing. For whatever reason Wedge has always been loyal to the veterans even if they do suck like Dellucci.

I still can`t believe that Dellucci is still on this team.

It makes me sick. I stopped watching this team long ago.

It's like Wedge is ok with losing AND not developing the young talent he has.
