    WSB: Post Game Animations

I picked up WSB2K3 last week and have really been enjoying it. It is a great game. However, I did have a bit of a disappointing finish the other night. I singled in the winning run in the bottom of the eleventh with the runner barely beating the play at the plate. The moment he touched home, the game immediately switched to the player of the game screen and all the post game stats. Now I understand that you can’t have a million different cutscenes for every possible scenario. And I will also admit that after I have seen an animation 300 times I tend to by-pass them more often than not. But after a great moment, then I do want to sit back and watch a celebration. I think that exciting finishes won in the last at bat are certainly worthy of a cut-scene or two.

Again, I think this is a great game, and my observation is not unique to WSB2K3. In every basketball game that I can think of, players just stand there like zombies after a buzzer beater to win the game. Winning an NFL playoff game in OT is no different than a preseason blowout, etc.

It seems that developers devote most of the animitions to those that we will see a million times. I would like to see them add some a few more cut scenes for the more unique and great situations like clinching a division, closing out a playoff series or winning a game in the closing moments with a big HR, 3 Pointer or Hail Mary Pass.

I don’t want to sacrifice any gameplay, but I think that cutscenes add to the atmosphere and realism of a sports video game.

Are you sure you didn't hit any buttons? I normally get cutscenes of the team high-fiving each other and celebrating after wins.

they do celebrate, high-five etc after regulation wins....but in the case of a walk-off score, it does just go straight to the player of the game screen....no big deal, but it WOULD be nice to see a little something special in those cases, since youre killing yourself to get it done and all

                Yes, it was extra innings.

Thanks for the info guys. Again, it isn't a big deal, but something I would put on the wishlist for next season.

Extra innings or not, if you win on your last at bat, be it the 9th OR extra-innings, it DOES just cut straight to the "Player of the game" shot... However the coolest cutscene I've ever seen was when I was tied in the bottom of the ninth and gave up a walk-off homer to Aramis Ramirez in my drafted franchise... he jumped up and down with his arms in the air, looking like Carl Yaz's dramatic homer. Even though I was on the short end of that ending, it was STILL cool.
