I totally disagree. However if they remove it then lets remove the huge elbow pads that Bonds wears and give home plate back to the pitcher...

amen...no body armor, remove the "ban" from pitching inside, automatic 20 game suspension for charging the mound (also for an intentional beanball), and load up all the DH's into a bus and send it over the nearest cliff....thats a good start Mr. Selig

If you're going to stand right on top of the plate, that's your option, but you shouldn't be allowed to "gear up" to do it. The only protection that should be allowed at the plate are injury-related pads, and shin guards (since they protect against foul balls, not inside pitches)

If you're going to stand right on top of the plate, that's your option, but you shouldn't be allowed to "gear up" to do it. The only protection that should be allowed at the plate are injury-related pads, and shin guards (since they protect against foul balls, not inside pitches)

I don't see the big deal with a rule change involving walks and beanballs. Personally I like the suggestion to make a batter's second+ walk take him to 2nd base, and I think it should apply to beanballs too. So, if you walk a guy he goes to first. Then later in the game if you walk him again OR bean him he goes to second every time. My view is that at the very least it will make pitchers more choosy about who they give bases. They will generally be more hesitant to do it at all, because if you do it once, then an unintentional walk or beanball later in the game could lose it for you. You don't lose the strategy, you just encourage a more legitimate pitcher/batter faceoff.

And as far as 'crowding the plate' goes, if you don't like it why not pull the batter's box back a few inches?

Leave the rules the way they are and have been for centuries and place a ban on batters looking like Bionic Commandos

I do not agree with the idea of going to second on your 2nd walk. Because a lot of IBB are used to set up the double play.
