    Best LOCAL announcers

I figured we thrashed the bad ones enough let's talk about the good ones.

I'm jealous of O's fans. Gary Thorne is just marvelous to listen to and hey, even Rick Dempsey who does some homerish stuff is pretty good to listen to as well because he does it in a benign way that is actually quite endearing plus, he actually gives some good info re: the pitcher/catcher dynamic.

As for Toronto well our best announcers are on the radio side. I do think Alan Ashby should do some TV. I think the insight he gives is far better suited for TV then radio.

They really irritated me at first, and still do from time to time, but overall I've grown to like Mario Impemba and Rod Allen for the Tigers. Smart guys who don't go overboard with homerism and keep their commentary light with humor.

      Vin Scully.

Don Orsillo is good. I am not crazy about Remy, but he isn't terrible.

I crack up listening to Keith Hernandez. He not the best announcer by any means, but some of the stuff he says just has me rolling sometimes.

Thorne is good. Dempsey rarely serves as an analyst. Dempsey is the regular post-game show analyst. It's usually Jim Palmer or Buck Martinez with Thorne. Some people don't like Palmer, but he knows his stuff and is not afraid to say what's on his mind.

Personally, i don't care much for Buck Martinez. I did not like him when he was ESPN in the 90's and thought he was kind of annoying on the old Triple Play video games.

Ah ok, I thought Palmer had been phased out a bit as i've heard him do Oriole games and he comes off as a jerk. I love Buck Martinez though so that cancels that hatred out

Still, Gary Thorne is one of the best in the business. The guy just has a baseball voice and knows how to move a broadcast along.

Rob Dibble is awesome. He's a huge homer (you can hear him saying, "Come on [name]" in clutch moments, but some of the stuff he says is hysterical and I'm pretty sure he's going to punch Bob Carpenter and Debbi Taylor at some point this year.

He's not local for me but every Dodger game I see on TV (4 This year) I watch just to listen to Vin, he's the best and I hate to say it he's probably getting near the end so I want to enjoy it while I can.

Pat Hughes and Ron Santo are great together, here in Chicago.

Ron may be a homer or completely lost at times, but they work well together (Pat pretty much carries Ron through all the broadcasts, actually )

I remember when Steve Stone and Chip were let go and I was hoping they would give the job to Pat & Ron, unfortunately they didnt....while Len Kasper and Brenly are decent, I would've much preferred to here Pat's silky smooth voice on the TV.

It isn't a Dodger game without Vinny calling the game.

Agreed. Vin's golden tones just personify baseball for me....

And on the other end of the spectrum there's Jamie Campbell from Sportsnet ugh.

I think Bob Brenly is such a fabulous asset. Deep knowledge of the game and he is a former World Series winning manager.

Not to many can claim that.
