Re: Roy Halladay
The Yankees get beat by any pitcher that pounds the strike zone. Boston hitters are so balanced. Patience with aggression. The Yankees preach patience, patience, patience. It works, but it falters against top aces that throw strikes all day.
To make this about Halladay, specifically. He's straight nasty. When you think about how he holds a little back just so he can pitch 9 innings, you realize that he's a pitcher that can dial it up and strike you out. It's amazing to see a guy amongst the leaders in K's and also do such an amazing job of keeping his pitch count so low."It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob NeyerComment
