Do you think the MLB season is too long?

Talking to a few friends they said one big reason why they dont follow baseball as closely as football is the amount of games played is so much that it takes away the meaning of individual games. In football pro and college everygame means so much. If you lose 5 games in a row in a football season your chances of reaching the playoffs are pretty much diminshed. If you lose 5 games in a row in baseball in the big picture its not as devestating as it is in football.

I do agree with some points because every game in football is so huge, just like every game is huge in baseball in September/October. But even in September football games mean a lot, an in April baseballs games dont mean as much to the casual fan.

Just looking to see what everyone has to say..I voted "No" because I'm a huge baseball fan and winning each series is how you get to the playoffs. But I do love watching football and knowing each game is so important.

Using "the season is too long" is just an excuse someone tells themselves to justify not being a baseball fan.

I don't view any game to be meaningless.

I think their whole point was if you lose a football game in the 1st week of the season it impacts your overall season more then if you lose a game in the 1st week of the baseball season. I think its a valid point.

I dont agree that the season is too long, but I can see why it doesnt draw as much fans as football does.

but no the length is perfect. I would like to see the season start earlier (weather permitting) the gap between football and baseball is too long

Well, I know I don't want it any shorter(thats what she said). Thats what I love about baseball. On almost any given day, I know that my Cubs are playing. If it happens to be an off day, there are plenty of other good games that can be had............

Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint so it's not too long. I do think that it can get long for teams that are realistically out of it by late August but that's the harsh reality of a sport that has a smaller and deeper in some ways playoff pool. If the season is to be shorter then shorten it to 154 games and a balanced schedule but it's fine as it is right now.
