Why is Deivi Cruz so bad

He is horrible. I think he's taken like 3 pitches, ever. And that would be OK if he was a good hitter, but he's not. Why did the O's sign him? What they should have done is trade for Orlando Cabrera. He was on the trading block during the winter anyway.

Deivi Cruz was signed for his defense ( why , I don't know ) and was going to platoon with Melvin Mora. Now that Mora has caught fire again this season , Cruz is riding the bench more often since he doesn't have near the versatility that Mora has. Also , your comment about Cabrera being on the trading block..I don't think he was?

Unofficially he was, but then unofficially everyone is.

Deivi Cruz was meant to be a bench person, play for his defense in the latter parts of the game, the only reason why he started last year was that Ramon Vasquez was struggling in that position early.

Pretty much everyone on the Expos was theoretically on the trading block. Since they needed to dump salary, they probably would have traded almost anyone outside of Vlad. It just happened to be Colon.
