Re: Vote for Manny
Bill Hall should play with a pink bat. Every Mother's Day it seems the guy goes off with a monster homer or game winning hit.http://flotn.blogspot.com

Re: Vote for Manny
Manny has fallen to fifth among NL Outfielders in votes, so the dopey website isn't helping.
Even Joe Torre said that Manny should not go if voted on and he believes Manny would do the right thing and not play. But then, if Manny ever did the right thing this wouldn't be an issue right now...Comment

Re: Vote for Manny
I'm not trying to start anything but I don't really see why not going isn't the right thing. I honestly wouldn't care if Manny started, hit 3 homers, had a fly ball bounce off his head, and then named the MVP.
These are the same rules sports have had for years, just for different things than the past. People used to only care if a player got away with breaking the rules. If they got fined, suspended, etc. once that was over it was like nothing ever happened. The media hype and Selig piggy backing so he can remove himself from the fire is the only reason all this crap is such a big deal now.
Manny is one of the most popular players in the game. Everyone loves seeing him play so if he's not suspended, and the fans vote him in, then he should give the fans what they want and put on a show. I'd have a problem if a manager voted him in, bc he hasn't played enough to deserve that and some other guys that fans aren't as familiar with definitely have. But I don't see how the right thing for Manny, if he's voted in, would be anything besides playing for all the fans that voted for him.Comment

Anyone remember several years ago when Alonzo Mourning was one of the leading vote getters in the Eastern Conference for the NBA All Star Game-and he had not played a single game that season?. It's the same thing, the popularity contest. Which is why i think the voting should be taken away from the fans in all sports.Comment

Re: Vote for Manny
Didn't mean to seem like that was directed at you. Just the thought of "the right thing" in general. I don't think I agree that him not playing is "the right thing". Maybe "the less controversial thing" or "the wise thing" bc we know the media will have a field day with it.
I'm ok with fans voting on all star games as long as they're really all star games. They shouldn't be used for incentives in contracts, deciding home field of a championship or anything else related to the actual season or contracts.Comment
