    ASB- does player position matter?

what i want to know is, if i put a player in a postion he's not listed to play, would he be the same defensivly and not make alot more errors?

for example, if i trade for pat burrell (who's listed at LF) and play him at 1st base (since he played 1st previously.....but that's not really the point), would he be able to play it the same as a player who's the same defensive rating and listed as 1st base. he has all B ratings for defense, so i'd assume he'd be good.

did anyone try this? i'd appreciate any help, thanks.

Larry Walker makes a ton of errors playing LF instead of RF for me, Randy Winn makes a ton playing CF instead of LF, and Ichiro's solid in RF. So near as I can tell it does.

    MY OWN GRIPE:
How come nobody ever recovers from an error realistcally? I.E.: Pick the ball up and still throw out the runner. They all just sit there like they've been whacked in the head with a hammer...this happens in at least HH and ASB...an error on a grounder to short shouldn't be a double, and might even be an out.

Also, can you edit positions on ASB? I don't think you can, but I only looked briefly.

you can't edit position as well as batting/throwing hand and age.

True, but that seems to happen in every game I've played, not just ASB.

As far as switching positions, you're stuck with them. I'd love if someone would make it like OOTP, where you can assign someone a different position in the minors and they'd gradually learn how to play it.

You can certainly give it a try. First base might be safe since they don't make very many plays.
