The Astros bullpen leads the NL in innings I believe, and their rotation is horrendus. I can't imagine them having any shot at the playoffs unless they pick up another starter.

Isn't this what they said last year when Miller had a horrible first half and then proceeded to go something like 10-1 with a two something ERA in the something half..The Astros will be fine once Miller gets going again. Oswalt pitches much better in warm weather and will regain his old dominant form ( like he isn't dominant now... ). And the talk of their bullpen being overworked is ignorant. Dotel used to be a starter with the Mets and can go two-three innings at a time. They are grooming Brad Lidge to be a starter and can also work two innings. Throw Peter Munro and Ricky Stone in there and that's a solid bullpen that can throw alot of innings. They only need Redding , Linebrink , and Robertson to go five-six innings every start out and that's what they've been doing. Astros will be ok.

I think the Stro's and Cardinals should get together. The Cards need a better bullpen. And the Stros need starting pitching.

I heard the Astros were grooming Brad Lidge to be the future closer and talking about trading Wagner before next year for salary reasons. Lidge has dominant stuff and now that he is finally healthy he is showing it.

Re: if you are a astros fan we need to be worried.

Given Lidge's history of injury, I don't see him starting. I agree he is most likely being groomed for the closer's role in the future, but for now he and Dotel are going to work the late innings and set up Wagner.

Berkman is coming out of his funk...he has 17 RBI this month and is hitting the ball hard.

As far as the rotation, I agree the Stros could use another solid starter. Saarloos is going to be sent back down, and I am unsure whether Moehler will be healthy enough to be effective. Linebrink probably isn't the answer, and Robertson is iffy as well ( but might develop into a decent left handed #5. )

A solid veteran SP would be great, but they are hard to come by. I keep hearing Chuck FInley's name, but at 40 yoa, I don't think he is the answer, as his durablilty had to be suspect. I'm looking for some sort of trade before the deadline.

There's no need to panic, but definitely cause for concern. The bullpen is the best in the league right now, but won't be come July if they keep working so many innings.

I wouldn't worry too much, the Cardinals are having bullpen trouble and the Cubs are managed by Dusty. The Reds though...they're lookin' alot better this week.

Saarloos has already been sent back down. Robertson moved into the #5 spot again. As for Wagner being traded , there are rumors he will go this year and Dotel will become the closer. Dotel is the most dominant set-up man in the game and will ease into the closer role if this were to happen. I see Lidge being in the starting rotation next year. And for the comments about the Reds looking good..please, look at their starting rotation...
