Nolan Ryan's pitching program in Texas
I know that Ryan is trying to stretch out the starters in Texas and eliminating the whole 100 pitch count crap but what exactly is the nature of the program? I have to give Ryan kudos for this as he's totally going against the grain of mainstream baseball.

Re: Nolan Ryan's pitching program in Texas
Not just Nolan. They paid a bunch of money for pitching coach Mike Maddux, too.
Nolan basically issued the warning to the starting pitchers. Stop expecting to get relieved the first sign of trouble in the 5th or 6th inning, man up, and prepare to finish the game if possible. He's also put them through a more rigorous off-season conditioning program, similar to what he used to do.
I like it, because it saves the bullpen, which has always been in ruins around here because of our weak starting pitching.
However, I do hope they ease up a bit on them come July and August. It gets dang hot here, and I could see some health issues if they don't. Already, Padilla, Harrison, and McArthy have been DL'd.
Overall, it's been a nice change around here though.
