Eric Gagne was a starter too as all closers were in some time of their life. Gagne had great stuff but never mentally put it together as a starter.

Gagne was always getting rocked as a starter.

Gagne has that hockey mentality. He gets pumped for a inning or two (at most) then he would burn out and get tired. That is why he is a great closer. He comes in the game all sweaty and pissed and closes the door. His best pitch is not his fastball, however. His curveball, new this year, is his best pitch along with his sinker. How do you adjust to a 75mph curve after seeing a 96+ fastball? That is almost impossible. His ERA is a bit inflated because of his one loss against the Braves in which the Dodgers gave up 7 runs in the 9th. Gagne is the guy I want closing my games...plus I am Dodgers fan!

gagne. The guy makes practically every hitter look foolish. Smoltz is RIGHT there however. Can't go wrong with either one. In a video game I would rate them 99, and 97.

Very very true both are great but I give the edge to Gangne but I would feel very secure with both of them in a 1 run game in the 9th.
