    The Four Man Rotation

Back in the old days of baseball all of the teams used four man pitching rotation. They decided later on that it would help the pitcher's health if they added an extra man. The fact is now days there are more arm injuries than ever. Many of the managers say it is due to the arms being too stiff from such a long rest between starts. Braves' pitching coach Leo Mazzone says he has his pitchers go through a special program during the long rest so they will not get injured. So my question is, why don't teams use the four man rotation anymore? It would make the pitching in the league better because instead of going to the fifth man they go to the ace starter. What are your thoughts?

    Re: The Four Man Rotation

I wish we could go back to the 4 man rotation but unless MLB raises the mound close to it's 1968 height then it wouldn't work. The hitters today are just too strong, have no fear at the plate, and pitchers today are less talented then they were even 10 yrs ago.

I am like you tho and I wouldn't mind seeing the 4 man rotation again. It would however make relievers more important as there are some managers nowadays who work their starters ragged. (i'm looking at you Dusty, LaRussa and Pinella)
