The problem is that 3DO's flagship product, High Heat Series Baseball, greatly stagnated in recent years. Had that product continued to grow, they wouldn't have taken such a big hit from their other products selling at considerably lower numbers.

High Heat Baseball is not and never has been 3DO's flagship product. If you want to believe that, that's all well and good but 3DO has never been known as a sports developing house. 3DO's flagship games were its Might and Magic games (Heroes of M&amp;M, the M&amp;M RPGs, Crusaders of M&amp;M, etc.) and to a lesser extent the Army Men line. Army Men and HOMM outsold HH at least 3-1.

Heroes of Might and Magic was a HUGE game through its first three editions; the 4th edition stunk and cost the company a LOT of money, more money than any baseball game ever could. The Might &amp; Magic RPG line stagnated more than High Heat ever did and it was also more expensive and time consuming to develop.

Then there is 3DO's console only games that were absolute trash. The list is long, varied, and hideously bad.

High Heat Baseball actually turned a profit--especially this year on the consoles. If every game 3DO developed did as well as High Heat when all was said and done (figuring in marketing, developing, and sales) then 3DO wouldn't be bankrupt.

I agree that High Heat Baseball's glory days were High Heat 99 through 2002. Those were some of the best sports games ever made. The 2003 and 2004 editions I thought underachieved, but 3DO had much, much bigger problems than a baseball franchise that always had mediocre to good sales and never was going reach EA-like sales.

      NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

Seriously though, I may never get a baseball game besides HH, and if that doesn't come out, noooo!

      <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

Be realistic. The other baseball products out now, or for sure coming out are just as good -- if not better -- as High Heat Baseball. It's great to love a product, but if you don't want to be stuck with playing old games, then you better flash your wallet

Mustardman: I see what you're saying, but IMO no other baseball game out comes even close the the gameplay of HH. I've played ASB and WSB this year and I don't see it. Neither can compete in the field of gameplay. Sure they have better graphics and better options/modes, but some of us hardcore baseball fans rather play a game that best represents baseball. Most other games I've played, something as simple as a cpu runner moving to third with a hit to the right-side of the infield isn't reflected. HH does little things such as this very well. It's the closest representation to real-life baseball that I've played...

ASB_MAN: You know Acclaim better than I do, but when ANY company's stock drops below $1.00/share, things can't be too good (no matter what the bigwigs at Acclaim say)... I believe that Acclaim has to do a reverse split or be delisted if they don't get up over $1.00 very soon. That's not good no matter how one looks at it.

I've been through it with a software company before and am currently with another software company that's rebounding from stock that dropped down to $5.00/share 1 year ago (currently back to $20/share).

it would truly be a shame if HH went away, but hopefully someone will "save" 3DO, or at the very least HH

I just started playing the HH series this year and I love the game. It's a shame to see people lose their jobs nowadays. As far as gamers go, there may be only one good thing out of this. For those who don't have the game, 3DO may have to lower the price for the game to raise cash to emerge from bankruptcy.

To each his own, I guess. I used to play HH exclusively, but now find the game boring and easy. I have much more fun and challenge playing ASB and WSB this year.

Just my opinion, but I don't find HH's gameplay to be any better than ASB or WSB.
