The mindset that the "closer" can only pitch in a "save situation" in the 9th inning needs to change. It's a horrendous use of resources, bring back the fireman who pitched when they were actually needed.

You know what makes it worse?

He mentioned, Sunday night I believe, that he didn't bring Soria in because he didn't want to use him for 5 outs because he was worried about his arm, partially because Soria had Tommy John surgery back in 2003.

Never mind the fact that Gil Meche had TJ surgery in 2002 (I think), yet Trey Mustache had no problems running him out there for 132 pitches when his back was hurting him, leading to him getting put on the DL.

So what happens last night? The Royals get in a similar situation, and Mustache brings Soria in (Ignoring the fact the he brought him in 2 batters too late)...for 5 outs.

Okay, I need to stop here or I'll never stop.

As sad as it sounds, he was probably our second best relief pitcher before he got hurt.

I've been keeping up with the Meche situation, it's simply asinine how that was handled.

That organization is just chock full of illogical, raging hypocrisy, from the front office right on down to the coaching. I don't know how you handle it.

Oh well at least the young arms are doing ok (though this wasn't Marc blah blah blah's best outing)

To be honest, I'm not sure how I handle it either.

I've told myself multiple times these past few weeks that I'm only going to watch the games in which Zack is pitching the rest of the season, yet later that night there I am watching the Royals lose. I don't know if it's because I still remember going to the games when I was young and the Royals were still finishing over .500 (87/88/89/91), but I just can't seem to stop watching them.

Yeah, I read Rany, were you going to mention his injury column a few weeks back?

That, along with the "Soria is too rested to pitch" one (hilarious). The whole injury article and the fallout from that was just another feather in the Royals' cap.

I loved the Soria one. He had me laughing so hard my side started to hurt, probably because, the front office is so pathetic you could almost see that happening.

I don't even want to into the crap that happened after the injury article. It made me embarrassed to be a Royals fan, and for once not because of the product on the field.

Another great game by Zack tonight: 7 IP, 10K's, 1 ER. If the Royals lose like they're on pace to do, somehow they'll be 10-10 in games he starts. I honestly don't see how it would be possible to play .500 ball with him on the mound, but the Royals have found a way.

And they'll become the first team to lose 10 straight games this season.

The Padres are a bad team, but damn... I didn't think the Nationals were worse.

That's ridiculous. Not to mention Zack is probably going to lose out on a Cy Young because the voters can't see past wins and losses.
