*61 is an awesome movie. I was watching Center Stage with Billy Crystal last night on the YES network and I'm not seriously considering picking up the DVD even though I've seen it many times on HBO.Member of the OS RAMS Club.Comment

Re: Just watched the movie: *61 for the first time.
I've seen the movie and I like it. There are a few niggling inaccurate points to it but they fit in well with the drama that Crystal wanted to portray. The inaccuracies:
1) One of the teamates on the Yankees in the movie didn't even join the Yanks til the next season!
2) and this is the biggest problem, Ford Frick didn't outright say that an asterisk would be added to the record if Maris broke the record in more games then Ruth did. It was hinted that he might do that but it never actually happened. The asterisk WAS in the official MLB record book but only to say that Maris did it in a longer season, not as a means to downgrade his achievement.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
