    4 man rotation experiment+stupid comment

For those who wish that the four man rotation would come back in MLB watch the Blue Jays this month as they're experimenting with it during interleague. They're doing this because they'll be having Mondays off so in reality it's a four man rotation but the days between starts will be basically the same as a 5 man rotation.

Now on to the stupid comment. Last night i'm listening to Todd Wright on ESPN radio and he says and I paraphase (he was talking about the long roadtrip for the Expos may hurt them then made the comment) "Just like the attention to detail and work on foundamentals will hurt the Jays by going to a 4 man rotation this month"

I was floored! What does foundamentals have to do with a four man rotation. If anything it'll be overwork from the starters that'll do them in not foundamentals. The Jays are such a fun team that have a great attitude and when they slump they don't slump for long. (excluding April)

I may be off on this, but here's what I think he meant:

By going to a 4-man rotation, pitchers are only going to have about 3 days off between starts. This will limit their ability to throw on the side, and work out any bad habits they may have developed fundamentally with the pitching coaches. This is especially a problem since a lot of Toronto's pitchers are young.

Again, I could be wrong, but it makes sense to me

But like TO said, the off days are still going to give the pitchers 4 days off between starts, during the Inter-League time. I believe the Jays plan switch back to the 5 man ratation after the schedule is back to normal.
I think it's a strong move myself, Halladay will get a couple extra starts and who know's that could make a big difference come Sept.

Ok I think the 5-man rotation is ludicrous and every team should have a 4-man rotation. The more you throw, the better you throw. I don't know where this babying pitchers came from. I think it was Jim Palmer who never pitched on more than 3 days rest!! If the 4-man rotation was good enoiugh for Walter Johnson, Bob Gibson, and Jim Palmer, it should be good enough for everybody. Yes, even Cory Lidle

4-Man rotation should be used by more teams IF, they have a good bullpen.

That way, your starting pitchers only need to last 6 innings.
