    The one player.....

.........you would build a team around. If you had to choose one batter or one pitcher, who would it be?

    my batter would be.......

CF Andruw Jones, beause he is an all-around player, and he's only 24!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    my pitcher would be............

SP Barry Zito, because he's only 25 and he's a quiet leader, plus (at least for the moment; $1.1 million) a cheap *** bargain!!!!!!

Who would you pick??? They're doing this at the basketball forum too.

I know its cliche but it's got to be A-Rod for me. Solid defensively and offensively, young, hits for power and average.

Pitcher - Mark Prior. He's got the making of a multiple Cy Young winner.

Batter: Soriano, he's got great speed, plays 2B so you know your team will be strong up the middle and he puts up huge numbers for a lead-off guy.

Pitcher: It would have to be Roy Halladay (ok i'm biased) but he's a workhorse. He'll eat up a lot of innings for you and he can tough it out. Just look at his last start even tho he didn't have his stuff he kept the Jays in the game and they eventually got to Wakefield. Roy's also pretty cheap to get as well.

batter- Vlad Guerrero, he is good in the field, has good speed, great power, and hits for a good average. 5-tool player
my next choice would be Pujols, because he can play multiple positions

pitcher- has to be Mark Mulder-hard to come by a great lefty, only 25, ground ball pitcher, so he can go the distance due to not throwing a lot of pitches and will give your bullpen a rest at least 1 out of 5 games.

                            Zito, hands down.

Not only because he's my favorite player, but because like Kalon said, he's a quiet leader.

Like Prior, he will win multiple Cy's. His stuff is unbelievable.

That 12-6 curve is the best pitch I've ever seen.

Batter to build around would be Andruw Jones.

Future MVP and only 26 (not 24.) Most gifted glove in the game, good for 35+ HR and 100+ RBI.
