Re: Oh My!!!!!!
Of course there was going to be no cork (Does anyone know how far his 489 HR went?). They wouldn't damage Sosa anymore than he already is. We need to wait to hear how all his other bats fair and then we can all attack Sammy.
My question is: How many bats has Sammy broken in the past few years ('98+) and how many have been corked? Why don't we go back and look at all his at-bats and see if the bats have a 'C' on the top? Last nights bat clearly had a 'C' on the top of it!!!
We all like to speculate and attack. I am sure everyone here has played baseball before and we all know hitting a baseball is not the easiest thing to do in the world. Even if his bats were corked, he would still have to hit the ball solidly. We are making it seem as though you can hit a HR off a check swing.
We all agree that what he did was wrong, but we are discounting his accomplishments all too quickly. He is still a GREAT baseball player and will still be once this story has calmed down a bit!!!Comment

And you think all of his homeruns cleared the fence by a long shot? A corked bat is certainly going to make a difference if it's in question whether a hit is long enough to be a homerun or not. I'm just sick of the way that Major League Baseball has jerked the chain of fans over the years.Comment

My point is that if his 498th cleared the fence by a considerable distance, then we can all assume he can hit the ball a long way without a cork. I just don't see the point of attacking Sammy for something he may not have done; purposely use a corked bat!!!
You have to look at his reaction towards his bat breaking. He didn't even react. It was as though he does it all the time. If my bat was corked and I broke it, I would be terified at my consequences and I would rush to pick up the pieces. I honestly think he made a mistake. Call me optimisic, but I don't think he did it on purpose.Comment
