Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
You know, I never understood how his story was so "feel good" in the first place. The guy was a drug-addict and ended up coping with it and returned to baseball. I'd much rather applaud the people that never were drug addicts.
I don't feel sorry for him at all this time.
On a side note, this photographer was probably just made very wealthy.Last edited by Blzer; 08-08-2009, 12:23 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60 -

How does this mean he's off the wagon? The guy lets loose at a bar and he's a drug addict again? Get real...Note to self: BUY MADDEN 12*

Oh and he says it was a one time slip-up. Bull crap he's probably been out smoking and drinking again for a long while.Comment

Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
these pictures are irrelevant...
sure he says hes been sober and everything but what athlete hasn't been out for a night on the town every once
the one thing to take note of though is that he (according to the article) asked the bartender if he knew where to get any blow"They call me the freak, cause i'm a freak of nature" - Randy Moss
"I'm not afraid to be lonely at the top" - Barry Bonds
"Just throw the ball above their heads!! They can't jump with me, Golly !! " - Randy MossComment

Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
I thought I was just crazy, but when they were interviewing him at the HR Derby it seemed to me like he was a little bit "off", or different. I was thinking maybe he got back into his old ways, but I figured I was just over-analyzing. Those pictures make me feel less crazy about that thought.Comment

Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
I really, really doubt he's relapsed, considering it's mandatory that he be tested 3 times every week.
I'm guessing it's just a little slip-up. A former addict can't have 1 drink without the risk of a relapse.
Stay clean, Josh.Comment

Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
See, what's a "slip-up"? Just like any formal apology that I see in a press conference by an athlete. They are reading some piece of paper and speaking in a monotone manner about being sorry for something, not because they are truly regrettable but because they were caught. Or like Alex Rodriguez saying he was "Young, dumb and stupid." He was still older than I am now, and for about ten years I would say that most things I would find irresponsible now I found irresponsible then. At eleven years old, taking steroids wouldn't qualify as being young, dumb, or stupid.
It's not like he's been asked not to spend quarters (for whatever stupid reason) and he slips up once accidentally by letting his daughter have a couple when an ice cream truck comes by. He knows what he was doing and he went out doing it. This was a very deliberate act and because there is a visual exposition he is trying to excuse it as a wrongful one-time act that he was forced into or that had crossed his mind afterward.
Again, I don't feel sorry for him at all. I loved the show he put on in last year's Home Run Derby and think he's a pretty good athlete, but for people to be so forgiving about players like this and be less than appreciative for guys that just play with a hard head and aim for perfection like Milton Bradley constantly get ridiculed, despite his cleanliness from drugs and public alcohol use/abuse during his career. If you read any of my posts regarding Adenhart's 'murder', you know my stance on this subject and my zero tolerance/sympathy policy for guys that can't find a way to have fun without violating a law or committing a premature act of adultery (which is saved for a different topic of discussion entirely).Last edited by Blzer; 08-08-2009, 06:55 PM.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
People make mistakes, he said it himself. He stopped pursuing his relationship with Christ the way he should have been and the Devil attacked him. It happens, we each have our weaknesses in life and this one is his and he let a little bit down on his guard and look what happened. I forgive the guy, I know how hard it can be, you just have to move on and keep pursuing that relationship with Jesus.Comment

Re: The Devil is still in Josh Hamilton
Hamilton admits that right after the incident he informed his wife and the Rangers organization, who then informed the MLB. He took responsibility for the incident. I mean what is he supposed to do? Hold a press conference?
He thought he could have a drink without getting out of hand, and clearly he was wrong. The guy made a mistake.
And FYI I've never been one of the guys that criticizes a ton of athletes such as Milton Bradley.Comment
