    In my opinion,

In my opinion, I think John Smoltz should retired so he would quit before he hurts himself again. I mean he always be a Atlanta Braves to me. He needs to go in a blaze of glory instead of in the ash of his career. I mean he had a great career and he should keep that way and retired with honor that he will have from the true fans.
I think about the same thing about Tom Glavine too. I mean they had a great career together as braves and when Tom went to the Mets he was a brave to me. So this is just what I think but I thought I would say what I was thinking.
What about you Guy and girls? What is ur thoughts?

    Re: In my opinion,

Interesting you should mention that as the Canadian version of The Reporters has a thumbs up/thumbs down segment at the end. Anyways the host gave a thumbs down to Smoltz and basically said what you said. We don't like to see great athletes end their careers looking like crap and he basically said that Smoltz should retire for the sake of his legacy then said that maybe the same could happen to Pedro.

I happen to agree, I don't like seeing athletes end their careers looking like pale imitations of themselves. We've seen it with Glavine and now Smoltz. We don't want to look at these guys as the modern day equivalent of Willie Mays stumbling all over like a drunk during the '73 World Series.

      Re: In my opinion,

I'm a Braves fan, but I was happy to see him fail in Boston. He was offered a contract to stay with the Braves, but chased after a little more money. He's over 40 years old and coming off another major elbow surgery you can't expect a team, especially one in a Atlanta's financial situation, to give you an extra million or whatever it was.

I really wish he and Glavine had retired at the end of last year. It could have been an awesome day in Coopers town if all 3 of them (maddux, glavine, smoltz) were eligible in the same year.

I really question whether Smoltz has anything left after the surgery. If anything, you'd think he would try and come back as a reliever at this point. I think he just stays in Boston as a reliever, because they could surely use him.
