Given the differences in the supporting casts, I'm sure Woody wouldn't have done nearly as well W-L wise in San Diego as he has in StL, but the Padres were always in games that he pitched. That deal for Lankford was a straight salary dump for the Padres. They traded Woody's 2-3 year big money contract for Lankford's 1 year big money contract. Lankford was absolutely horrible with the Padres. Woody was a PLAYER, and he would have helped the Padres entire pitching staff. Right now, Brian Lawrence is the Padres "ace" and the oldest starting pitcher they have (I think he's like 26-27). The Padres are in desperate need of someone who can show the young starting pitchers how its done. Woody would have been perfect.

The Twins got Eric Milton and Cristian Guzman for Chuck Knoblauch.

They also got Joe Mays from Seattle for a player that I can't remember at the moment.

-Oakland gets RHP Jeremy Fikac, Padres get cash.

Padres trading away Mcgriff, Alomar, and Sheffield. The only one I think is paying off is the Sheffield one (Sheffield for Hoffman).

Anything Jack McKeon did when he GM'd the Padres.
