If it got away, then tough luck. You don't get as many chances as you want to hit someone.

Youkilis is a complete idiot, but Porcello obviously deserved to get thrown out.

Ok, just saw highlights on B2night. I definitely know why Youk thought Porcello was throwing at him. I know why he's upset after 2 days in a row of getting drilled. Porcello did throw a purpose pitch @ Martinez. But looking @ Porcello's reaction, I don't think he meant to hit Youk, as likely as it seems. He seemed mad that he hit him, then seemed to gesture "why?" when he saw Youk charging the mound.

Either way though, it should be no shock to anyone's system that both players hit the showers.

If he wanted to drill Martinez he would have done it after that pitch missed him. He was pitching to get him out not drill him. It was a inside pitch that got away, nothing more. Of course the players today though get upset when pitchers throw inside.

Oh, & Cabrera getting "hit" tonight was clearly an accident & not an attempt to hurt him or even brush him back. Everyone needed to lay off the testosterone. Everything got taken care of last night & should have never carried over.

^^^Your right , players nowadays just need to chill out a little.

Cabrera was intentional hit last night though just like Youkilis today.

Youkabitch was clearly pissed off last night and wanted to charge the mound until he realized it was big ol Edwin out there, then he goes after Pork Chop and gets judo flipped when he tries to push him into right field. If you don't throw a punch when you charge the mound what is the point? Youkabitch got Rick-Rolled.

I don't think he intentionally hit Youkilis either based on his teammates reaction. If it was intentional the catcher would have wrapped Youk up immediately especially since he hesitated before he charged.

That being said, Porcello should have been a little more careful pitching inside considering the situation. It shouldn't be a surprise that Youkilis charged him or that he got ejected.

And I'll also agree, as I told my mom while we were watching it, that Porcello definitely didn't mean to hit Youk. I'd say the pitch at Martinez was a lot more intentional than the Youk one give Porcello's reactions.

See this is my problem with how it is now. Pitchers being afraid to throw inside for fear of getting ejecting in those situation. It makes pitching effectively much more difficult when you can't throw inside. Good hitter will pound pitchers who don't throw inside.

I have to ask though if both of you thought it wasn't intentional( I disagree with that given where he hit him) what did he deserve to get thrown out for? Defending himself after Youkilis threw his helmet at him and bear hugged him. He tried to back away from him. I just disagree that a pitcher should be ejected automatically if a batter charges the mound. Where is the pitcher supposed to go?

As a side note Youkilis should be suspended multiple games for throwing his helmet. He should also be embarrassed for getting thrown down by a smaller guy.

It's a matter of getting the game under control. If they don't eject Porcello the Red Sox would come right back and throw at the Tigers again. At some point the umpires have to step in and put a stop to it.

It's easy for us to look back at the replay and judge Porcello's reaction and his teammates reaction. It's a lot more difficult for the umpires on the field to do so. At that point they're just trying to keep things from getting out of control.

^^The more I look at Porcello's reaction and the catchers the more it doesn't look like it was intentional. I just assumed since he nailed him in the back that it was intentional.

I am sure he will get suspended for a start since that seems to be standard procedure after a brawl but after watching that I am not sure he should.

I just am annoyed that all this might have cost the Tigers the game since it seemed to shift the way it was going. Having to bring in that bum Lambert sucked.

Haha look at what DeMarlo Hale (Red Sox third base coach) is doing to Santiago. He's just getting into it for no reason. And I think that was Tim Bogar (first base coach) that was knocked down right after Youk was thrown down.

If I were them, I would stay the hell out of that raucous. They have nothing to do with it surely and they shouldn't risk any sort of internal injuries getting caught in that scrap as older guys.
