You guys help me out a little here please...
I'm not a hardcore baseball gamer. I would be what you call a "casual" fan. I don't know the in-depth strategies that play out in a game. I played up until high school and then I played only football. I have read review after review and read post after post here. But I still am no closer to knowing which baseball game would be for me. And my local Blockbuster only has High Heat and ASB. For a casual player that loves the atmosphere and the actual GAMEPLAY and not the in-depth trading / strategy of the game, what is the right choice? Thanks for any info.Tags: None -

ASB is a good game to get, it's easy enough to step in and play and you can grow with it. Various difficulty levels and different batting cursors, make it a challenge or a cake walk depending on how you set it up. Oh and BTW it's mad fun. -

It may sound like a broken record, but renting each game for a week and play it fully (2-3 games every night) will get you the answers you need.
Remember, one person's feature is another person's waste. I would equate it to Madden cards. While its not necessarily gameplay-related, I know people who might switch to 2K3 if they took it away.
I rented ASB, HH and WSB for a week each. It cost me $26 for those three weeks of playing. I played the games every night I had them. I committed myself to playing all the games I could, regardless of how I despised the game. If I was going to drop $50, it was going to be for the game I would play for a long time.
There were gameplay problems in all the games, so I had to pick the one that would give me a challenge as opposed to the game that would be easy for me to master. That was WSB.
I love the game, and I have to put it down after two or three games. I want a realistic game experience and after that third game, I was playing it like a video game (swing at every pitch, just pitch down the middle, etc.). Plus, I am only scoring about 2 runs a game and I am getting mad at myself for chasing bad pitches all the time!Comment
