You have made a good point as well. I have come to the conclusion that All-Star Voting is just a popularity contest or should I say favorites contest. The majority of people vote for the "name" on the ballot, not who is most deserving.
Despite numbers, Pujols isn't getting his just rewards

He doesn't deserve to be held in the same company with Bonds or Sosa. Just look at the numbers that they have put up year in year out. Bonds is perhaps one of the greatest OF of all time. Sosa has tore the league apart the past 4 years. I'm not taking anything away from Pujols and his past three years. He is an awesome player. If he puts up the same numbers (which he probably will) for 5 more years, then yes put im in the same sentence with Bonds and Sosa.

In another 2-3 years he most likely will be in those categories. He's had the best start of any hitter and doesn't seem to be slowing down. He's on course to strike out only around 50 times this year. Pujols plays almost everygame with injuries. Sosa has already stuck out 55 times and is on course for his usual 150+. I bet if Pujols used a corked bat in a game on accident everyone would be all over his case because of the numbers he's put up for being so young and such a great hitter.Comment

I agree 100%, It is sad that (most) fans only vote for popularity and not who is deserving. A true fan of baseball would vote for guys that deserve to play in the All-Star and if you don't believe that then IMO your not a baseball purist!Comment

Re: Despite numbers, Pujols isn\'t getting his just rewards
I consider Pujols the best player in the game right now actually.I really do... I hope he does win the triple crown........ that would be so awesome.
you called him a kid... yeah he is only 23.. but he plays like he has been in the league at least 10 years already.. his maturity level as a hitter/player is just as good as anyone in the game.
If I was going to start a franchise right now and I could pick one player right now in all of baseball to start with.. it be him.
who would yours be?
