I think the Sammy Sosa incident sums up what most pro athletes will do in the name of numbers (stats and/or money) at the expense of integrity. Sammy was supposed to be different but he's Corky Sosa to me.

That is the problem idolizing athletes, putting them on a pedestal only means they have higher to fall.
Plus if you are christian it is wrong because it is a form of worship and God is supposed to get exclusive devotion.
