How to get the K in ASB?

I have the Cubs' pitching staff, regarded as a great strike-out pitching staff, and the most I've gotten by one pitcher is 8 (by Shawn Estes, go figure). Any tips on how to get strikeouts consistently?

It is hard, but definately possible to get a lot of strikeouts with guys like Prior and Wood. My personal best is 12 with Wood, but think about; 8 for Estes is a lot. Most pitchers are lucky to get 8 strikeouts much less go 8 innings. Basically, I throw off speed pitches away from the batter, and fastballs inside on hitters. If you think about, it's much easier for a batter to pull an inside slow pitch, so I throw a few offspeed pitches on the outside corner, then I throw a 4 seam down and in to get them out.

You also have to think about keeping the batter offbalance. If you throw him a low inside fastball, come back with a low outside curve, and then maybe a slider on the inside corner again. You always got to keep them guessing. Also if you get into a groove of throwing to different spots on each pitch, throw them two different pitches in a row in the same spot. Mix this with keeping them offbalance and you can really sit some guys down.

If you're still having trouble, I suggest using the generate pitch count. This speeds up the game, and I find it easier to strike guys out with it on.

When I started playing All-Star Baseball, I could hardly strike anyone out. The most I would get would be about 6 or 7, but usually around four. If you keep working on it, you will eventually really learn your pitchers, and it will be much easier. Now I consistantly get around 8-14 per game with Pedro, and around 6 to 8 with Derek Lowe.

set up the batter with balls. If they have 2 strikes on them, throw a fastball inside then follow it with a change up away.

My personal best with Prior is 14 K's, Wood 11 K's is my best, you are better with Estes than me though my best with Estes is 5 K's.

I am aiming for 20 K's but that will be difficult.

Funny thing about that 8 k game with Estes is that it was only 5 innings.
