Thinking of making a baseball game, your thoughts?

Lately, I've become annoyed with developers' neglection of realistic pitching. For whatever reason, they think pitching is about throwing the same curveball with the same movement all the time. While MVP comes close to this, they've yet to even closely perfect pitching in video games.

So, I thought that maybe I would write my own "top down" baseball game, at least to start out. It would incorporate realistic pitching variables along with an in depth injury model. There would be an rpg element to it where you could make a player and have him play through his life.

What I'm asking is do you guys think this would be a good idea? I have enough knowledge of programming to create this, but sometimes I question whether my ideas are worth the time. I wouldn't want anybody to expect me to complete it, but I would like to know what you guys think. Perhaps you guys could give me some ideas of what you think is missing in todays' video games.

wouldn't be a waste of time IMO.

The worst that can happen is you develop a game that catches the elements of baseball precisely and Sega, EA, or whoever decides to buy it off of you (just make sure they dont destroy it, but use it).

That's the worst that can happen and that's not really that bad.

Do it if you enjoy it.

Worst case secenario is that it doesn't get done but atleast you enjoyed the time you put into it.

Best case, maybe you get noticed and hired onto a current dev team.
