    Re: Offical CUBS Thread

I love the Cubs, so it pains me to say this ...

but their lack of execution is finally starting to catch up with them. They've been playing poor fundamental baseball all year, but their pitching has been keeping them in it. Unfortunately, the pitching can afford NO mistakes, because the hitting (excluding the rare exception) will not/cannot get it done.

Cubs could've put the Sox away today ... didn't. Cubs should've put the Sox away yesterday ... didn't. Same thing in the Brewers series. Doesn't bode well for the remainder of the season.

But, hey, I'll keep rooting for 'em. Go Cubs. Get 'em tomorrow.

      It's a sweep after tomorrow!

No way the Flubbies beat Loaiza! Loaiza for Cy Young!

      Let's go White Soxs!

            Re: Offical CUBS Thread

The Cubs do have a great deal of inconsistency in their offensive production, but let us not forget that they deal with some tough pitching, too. Still no excuse.
Without Sosa in a groove, they are in trouble. Alou obviously won't be anything like what he was 3+ years ago. Karros and Grudz have been pleasant surprises.
Alfonseca hasn't been terrible until now. The staff needs a boost, I think it is time for wellemeyer to come up for real, and maybe someone else.
David Kelton might be ready, he was up for a short stint, i didn't get to see him, though.
This much, however, is true---Lenny Harris and R.E. Martinez cannot be everyday players and the Cubs succeed.
As usual, it seems the Cubs office won't make that KILLER move that will be necessary for the team to win. The players are not performing, they need a boost.
Some will say BAKER should have been that boost, but i think it has to come on the field. LOWELL, at this point, is a must have.

Here's Kerry's stats against the Soxs in his career:
                        W-L:0-3
                        IP:29 IP
                        ERA:7.14
                        WALKS:29
                        K's:27

And your telling me his going to break his own strike out record with those type of career stats against that team?
