I hope home run celebrations dont start turning into what touchdown celebrations are in the NFL. I think its time for pitchers to start making batters rethink not wearing those David Wright space helmets if you know what I mean.

Yeah, all we need is chorus lines now, lol. A football player finally makes a tackle on the field and you think he's celebrating induction into the hall of fame. Why not have the same thing ON the field in baseball when someone makes a spectacular play?

Won't have a problem with it as long as they do the same thing when they botch a play, but that's not coming......so, I have a problem with it. To me, imho, it's just not necessary and it IS a form of taunting and a "look at me" thing. Look at what I just did to you.

I have no problem with spontaneous reactions, this though....I hope it's a quick thing of the past.

I completely agree. And to the person who said "what about players throwing the ball around the horn after a strikeout". Well, I believe they do that to keep the infield on its toes. Anyone who has played ball in real life knows that you can become a little flat footed when a ball hasn't been put in play for a while.

I'm not too fond of the "premeditated" celebrations. Call me old school (even though I'm only 20 years old), but I don't think this sort of thing has any place in baseball.

And yeah, I'm with you fugazi, this season has really changed my perspective on Prince. Even thought I'm a Cards fan, I still had respect for the man before this season. But he just needs to shut his mouth, hit his home runs, and go home.

Is it still only a game? I don't think the 6 zeros allows us to just think of it that way anymore. We want to, but we all know it's more than just getting together with the guys and runnin' one.

Generational difference's may be part of it, but heck I'm only 27 and I still dont like the over the top celebrations in any sport. If were playing ball in the backyard with people I know then thats fine, but when your playing in organized leagues and even against strangers I think its bad sportsmanship. I'm not against celebrating, I'm just talking about over the top celebrations.

How can the mob scenes at home plate be "spontaneous" when they do it each every time its a walk off? Its as spontaneous as going to first after 4 balls.

I guess over the top can be subjective. I personally dont see anything wrong with teammates greeting a player at home plate after a walk off home run and maybe patting him on the back and high fiving him or whatever. But you know and they know when they're being excessive with it.

Walk-off Home run, I think this celebration is fine. Game is over, who cares what he does. I like a celebration for a walk-off. You are at home, its for the fans, and its clutch.

I don't want to see this happen at any point during the game though.

Kind of silly for a team no where near contention.

If I'm a MIL fan it's sorta a slap in the face IMO...Why can't they show the same enthusiasm as they did in that one game over the entire post-ASB... while they were going 21-31 and as of today stand 17 games back from the division when they were 2.5 games back on 7/14 and only 4.5 out of the Wildcard (14 today).
