Re: 2009 Award Predictions
Bobby Abreu won't win the MVP but w/o him I seriously doubt the Angels would've won the AL West, especially given the iffy pitching staff.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Re: 2009 Award Predictions
Zimmerman's range rating or whatever is the best for any 3B. Zimmerman had throwing issues earlier in the year but corrected them by July. He gets to more ground balls than anyone.Comment

Re: 2009 Award Predictions
You would be the first Sox fan I've ever met who felt either guy was snubbed, and I live in Boston. Pedro is the only recent Sox player to be robbed of a Cy Young in '02, and an MVP in '99.Comment

Re: 2009 Award Predictions
With all due respect to Jeter, 2006 was Travis Hafner and his insane stat line. The fact he finished in 8th in MVP voting still pisses me off to this day.Too Old To Game Club

According to WAR, you're absolutely correct:

I personally thought Mauer should have won in 2006 but I think we can all agree that Jeter, Mauer, Sizemore and Hafner would have been better picks than Morneau.Comment

No arguments here. I still find the selection of Morneau to be one of the poorest in recent memory. Any of those other guys would have been a much better selection.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: 2009 Award Predictions
American League
Cy Young - Felix Hernandez (only AL pitcher that ranks in top 4 in all 3 Triple Crown categories.)
MVP - Miguel Cabrera or Joe Mauer. Whichever team wins that division.
Rookie of the Year - Gordon Beckham
National League
Cy Young - Chris Carpenter
MVP - Albert Pujols
Rookie of the Year - living in the south, I'd love to see Tommy Hanson win, but I don't think a pitcher should win ROY over an everday guy unless he's just unhittable (sorry Hanson and Happ). So I'll have to say...Chris Coghlan. Just watched him in the Atlanta series, and he's such a good hitter it's insane.Last edited by st0rmb11; 10-02-2009, 07:40 PM.
