Yankees rumour

This was reported by Marty York who does reports on Rogers Sportsnet in Canada. Now keep in mind that he's a rumour-monger and he started a rumour a couple yrs ago which got reported in the US and he got ridiculed for it. This rumour however seems to have some basis of reality behind it which is why I will report it here.

Joe Torre and George Steinbrenner aren't getting along. It's gotten so bad that they don't even talk to each other. Torre's contract pays him 10 million this yr and next so George is thinking up ways of having Torre resign rather then be fired. Steinbrenner is reportedly thinking of firing Don Zimmer in the hopes that Torre will be so upset that he'll quit the team. The Yankees will then hire Bobby Valentine as manager.

I know that Torre and Steinbrenner haven't been getting along lately but I dont know if he would fire Zimmer just to get Torre to quit. With Steinbrenner it is a possiblity but I dunno if even he would go that far.

I do hate both the Yankees and the Mets, but I must say that I don't have any problem with Valentine. He's not afraid to say whats on his mind, whether it be right or not, and that takes some guts sometimes.

As for the rumor, I think that Steinbrenner wouldn't go that far, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some sort of "Buyout" at the end of this year, assuming that they don't win it all.

I do hate both the Yankees and the Mets, but I must say that I don't have any problem with Valentine. He's not afraid to say whats on his mind, whether it be right or not, and that takes some guts sometimes.
