    ASB - Weird Occurence

Today, while in Batting Practice Mode at the Ballpark at Arlington, I was hitting with Derek Jeter. He hit a ball deep to centerfield and the star icon was at the top of the wall in dead centerfield. To my surprise, the ball hit either the top of the wall or the lawn past the centerfield wall and landed just behind the wall! (there's a gap between the wall and the lawn in centerfield)

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I think the wind carried the ball over the fence, but I can't say for sure because it was just batting practice. I've never seen the wind push a ball over the wall before either.

I had a ball bounce off the top of the wall (and over) at Comiskey Park once during a franchise game.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a ttoal jmulbe and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

          amzanig huh?

If the star is right at the top of the wall, the ball is catchable. I have had the CF run up the wall and rob me of a HR before.

                      Re: ASB - Weird Occurence

In my round of batting practice with Jeter the star was actually about as high on the wall as you can be, and the middle of the star was at the same height as the top of the wall. I was shocked that there wasn't a cutscene, after all it was only batting practice.

Heelfan, i've been robbed several times by outfielders, some who were right on the money and about 2 who were about 15 feet to the left or right of the ball.
In those occurrences the star was completely over the wall or there was another cursor just beyond the wall (probably the same star cursor but only partially visible). In batting practice the star wasn't completely over. I guess it was the minimum height the star needed to be to be a home run.

In ASB2003, I had a similar experience at Wrigley Field, but this time in a game. The ball hit the edge of the basket in left centerfield and went into the stands, but was ruled a ground rule double .

I guess every game has its surprises.

i hate when you crank one deep and the outfielder is like 20 feet away and catches it. that is crap. today i hit a deep shot with brandon inge that had the star icon just above the yellow line in left field at whitaker grounds. it hit the guard rail thing and bounced into play. that sucked. but it was something new.
