    MVP? I'll bring this up

No one talks about the game anymore, yet I still play it.

I agree that it has it's bugs and problems, but the game is still pretty good and very enjoyable.

Despite all that I could never find out the secret to pitching. I hear about guys striking out 10 guys easily. I struggled to get 2.

But last night I discovered something that was working. I'm still tryin to adjust to it and learn it better, but it worked for that one night.

I use to use the whole meter when I pitched, but last night I thought about goin half *** some of the time. If a guy sees the same fastball over and over agian, he'll adjust. But if I change speeds by throwing softer and taking off movement then he'll be confused. Same with the drop on a curve.

I didn't strike out 10 guys, but I did strike out 6 in 7 innings with Barry Zito. It made pitching exciting again, as I was gettin frustrated that I couldn't strike out batters with a talented pitcher.

I'll run more "tests" in the future.

Hey, it's only June. We can still talk about this stuff!
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

"You'll not find more penny-wise/pound-foolish behavior than in Major League Baseball." - Rob Neyer

This is how I get strikeouts:

    1. Fastball low-outside corner
    2. Fastball high-outside corner
    3. Curveball low-inside corner/slider low-outside corner

I struck out 250 1 year with Russ Ortiz on the highest difficulty level using this method.

You are right there are some glitches that I would like to see corrected in next years version but I still play it everyday.

I have Ortiz in my Marlins Franchise, yet I suck at striking out. I hope this method works....for you other guys what is your secret?

I have a lot more success with guys who throw curveballs than that don't. For instance, I strike out about 8 guys a game with Shane Reynolds of all pitchers, but for some reason I rarely strike anyone out with Smoltz.

Fastball/curveball/changeup/slider are a must. All three are diffrent speeds, and if you pitcher has all four, with style + grace, you can K 10-15 on a good day, or at least one per inning pitched on an okay day...

Changing speeds is the key, but not repeating the same patterns is what gets you more K's. DOn't allways go, fastball-fastball-change/curve. Go curve high, change low, and fast ball high up out of the zone for strike three. then go slider high outside, high inside, and curve low out of the zone. MIX IT UP... using half the pitch meter is a good, but on strike three give it all you got.
