The "Geoff Jenkins Should Be An All-Star Post"

yeah thats right i said it. heres his stats

.289 AVG 19 HR 60 RBI i know theres so many outfielders in the NL but damn can my guy jenkins get some love???

while im at it im gonna show love for other brewers.

    Richie Sexson

    .254 AVG 21 HR 49 RBI
ok maybe the average aint so great but i figure who else is there for first basemen in the NL. not to mention great fielding at first base. heck i would consider him for a gold glove there too.

now the guy anyone outside brewer fans i know never heard of. Scott Podsednik

    .312 AVG .391 OBP 15 SB

hed prolly have more steals had he started the whole year. hes playin center field and is the reason the brewers felt they could trade alex sanchez. hes gotta be a top candidate for NL rookie of the year as well as maybe an all star appearance

Batting average is oine of the most overrated stats...it's not useless but i'd rather see a guy who hits a .250 BA but hits well with RISP than see a guy who hits .320 but w/RISP hits a low average...

    Better to look at OBP..

anyway since Sexson has that many HR's i don't think he will get snubbed and neither will Jenks.

Right now it's too hard for Jenkins to go as he's an outfielder. Look to see Sexson going to the All Star game with less impressive numbers than Jenkins.

I think when you are looking at players stats the most important stat for hitters could be OPS.

OK. I know what OPS is, it's "On Base plus Slugging Percentage" or something like that... but what does it HONESTLY tell you? I've been watching baseball since I can remember, and I NEVER heard it mentioned unitl this past 2-3 years... it, in all honesty, seems like some funked up stat that the players union concocted to give the players some other means to get more money..

What does having a good OPS tell you about a hitter? I seriously wanna know, I have no clue... Like for instance slugging percentage tells you if the guy is a singles hitter or gets a nice amount of extra-base hits.
