I am a HUGE Barry Bonds fan, he's my favorite player next to Chipper, Maddux, and Sheff in order. I just wanna say that he's bad *** and he deserves 600. I dont care what he does off the field, I've met him several times at SF games and he is a really nice guy.

I'm cheering for him... but I have a big problem with last night's Braves telecast in relation to the Bonds drive for 600.

Start Rant

The score in the Braves game was 1-1, and it was in the later innings. Chipper Jones comes up to bat with 2 out... for those who don't know, he's been on a roll lately (NL Player of the Week last week). His previous at-bat he hit one about 410 feet, caught right at the base of the wall. So, needless to say, I'm on the edge of my seat, cheering and yelling for him.

The telecast cuts to "EA Sports Central" or whatever the hell it's called for an update on Barry Bonds chase of 600. Cool, I thought to myself... they are going to show a quick highlight or some split screen action of Barry hitting #600. Split screen comes up right as Chipper is stepping into the box and.... woah, what the #$%#@?!?!?! They cut to the Bonds action and totally forget about the Braves #1 hitter in a big situation.

Sure, Bonds' chase of 600 is a big deal... but it's not record breaking. It's not the homerun that takes his team into the playoffs, or put him ahead in the overall homerun standings ahead of some great legend. It's just another homerun. 600 homeruns is amazing, but in the grand scheme of things, it really doesn't mean much.

He gets out, they cut back to the Braves running into the dugout, and it really chapped my ***. I wasn't watching ESPN, or FoxSports... I was watching TBS. The Braves' Station. Leave the Bonds outs for Sportscenter.

LOL I was pisse too, but oh well.

It may not be the HR that takes them to the playoffs, but still, only 3 people have gotten to that plateau......so I'm sure people wanna see it. It would be cool though if they have a split screen tonight on ESPN that shows both games.

Yeah, I know that 600 really is an awesome accomplishment... and I'd love to see it happen live... just not at the expense of my Braves, that's all.

I'd rather see a Chipper Jones single or an Andruw Jones diving catch than Barry Bonds' 600th homerun. I bleed red, white, and blue, Braves through and through.

I'm sure we will see the highlight on ESPN for days, so why mess up the Braves game? Especially Ariz vs Atlanta with Schilling on the mound.

Ya, but its still crazy to watch it live. I watched 400 and 500 live, 600 would be cool too. Even if I dont know who was playing against him for 400 and 500, but I still know that I saw it live.

My point exactly. If it were on ESPN, then I would understand... they have a responsibility to cover all the major sporting news. But TBS? That's sacred coverage they interupted.

Now, on the other hand, it did give us all a few more glimpses of Erin Andrews... and that is never a bad thing. The next time they interupt a Chipper at bat, though... she'd better be naked.

Matrix I totally agree with you about Lisa Guerrero she is very hot. Also I hope Bonds does hit 600 it would be cool to see some history.
