The fact that Troy Glaus (.262 BA, 14 HRs, 44 RBIs), Eric Chavez (.259 BA, 16 HRs, 46 RBIs), and Robin Ventura (.256 BA, 9 HRs, and 36 RBIs) are leading in votes over Hank Blalock (.331 BA, 12 HRs, 46 RBIs) is ridiculous.
This is nothing compared to many of the other positions. Vernon Wells who has a .307 BA and is leading AL outfielders in both home runs and RBIs is currently 9th for AL outfielders in votes. Raul Mondesi who has a .268 BA, 6 less homers and over 30 less RBIs than Vernon Wells is above him in voting.
Jose Vidro has a 40 point higher batting average, the same amount of home runs, and 2 more RBIs than 2nd base vote leader Marcus Giles.
Scott Rolen (.293 BA, 15 HRs, 56 RBIs) and Vinny Castilla (.254 BA, 12 HRs, 35 RBIs) are beating Mike Lowell (.288 BA, 25 HRs, 68 RBIs) in votes. He's even leading the National League in Home Runs.
Rafeal Furcal who has a 46 point less batting average, half the RBIs, and 3 less stolen bases is beating Edgar Renteria for the starting shortstop position.
And possible worst of all, Albert Pujols who is batting close to .400 and leading all NL outfielders in RBIs may not even start.
