You mean to tell me the team with the biggest fanbase has given the World Series large ratings? Wow. I never saw that coming. I guess ratings make anything great. American Idol must be better than Mad Men and LOST combined. If things are popular they must be great. For instance, Britney Spears is a better musician than Jimi Hendrix.

What the public wants, it gets, Sunshine.

Baseball playoff ratings are through the roof. The game is as healthy as it's every been, and that's in a recession.

      I'm sorry for your loss.

Transformers 2 is the best film of the year. Irrefutable logic.

You're making assessments on a quality basis with sport that doesn't make sense.

The argument you have for these playoffs sucking is a delineation, not a correlation.

As usual Ewing is missing your point.
Our point is how bad are the playoffs when the ratings are thru the roof?
And it is not jut New York watching, case in point all 4 of the WS games last week were the 4 highest rated programs watched in California. Is New York in California???? Point is the games are exciting and people are watching.
Be the way this morning on Mike and Mike both Buster Olney and Peter Gammons said this years post season was one of the best in history. So many of the games came down to the last inning.

Re: Worst playoffs in recent memory

I'm not sure if it was the worst in recent memory, but these playoffs didn't do much for me either. As others have said, I would have liked to have seen deciding game at some point. The World Series games really weren't that exciting even though it went 6. The Angels/Yanks series was pretty good but other than that there wasn't much drama.

Honestly dude, this year's world series was better then 2008's...no doubt.

The series themselves lacked some drama but the games were awesome. Just look at all the 9th inning drama, the number of blown saves this year means there was a lot of late game drama...the crazy plays (Holliday dropping that ball - agony).

While none of the series' went the distance we still had some entertaining games this postseason.
I will say that this was the worst umpired playoffs in recent memory.

As for the World Series, it was decent. While i love the Red Sox sweeps in '04 and '07 the last good World Series we have had was 2002 Angels vs Giants.

Seriously - I hope Tim McClelland never works in the postseason again...or a Braves' game.

These playoffs were terrible. I agree 100%. Never before has it become so clear that baseball is horribly broken and needs a new system to even the playing field. I'm tired of it. I'm a bigger baseball fan than anyone I know, but I can't even enjoy the game anymore, because it's not real. It's a video game now.

All I can say is. . . Wow, what were you watching? Yes, let's level the playing field so that we see 26 mediocre teams that go 81-81.

I yearn for the day all 30 teams go 81-81.
