Punto's option was for $5 million. A backup infielder with a .238 BA and 13 extra base hits is not worth $5 million. The Twins could always try to re-sign him at lower salary.

Since when are we not allowed to discuss the transactions in this thread? Would it have been better if I created a new thread to discuss the Twins not picking up Nick Punto's and my feelings about it? I'd flame myself if I did that!
