    Zack Greinke Is My Hero

In baseball parlance, Manny being Manny might be fraught with pitfalls. But Zack being Zack is a good thing for the Royals, who feared they might lose Greinke, not to another team but to depression and an anxiety disorder that caused him to consider abandoning his career in 2006.

"I hated being around attention and all the stuff in the clubhouse," Greinke says. "I really didn't want anything to do with being around people. A talking situation would make it worse. I've gotten a lot better at that."
I've suffered from depression for a very long time and social anxiety plagued me through recent years. Although my social anxiety is more of a lack of self-worth and afraid to speak up in certain situations, I love attention and communication with others, I just feel like nobody would want to talk to me. That's a little different from Zack's but they're both forms of the disorder.

Zack not only overcome both of these horrible and debilitating disorders, he put up one of the best pitching seasons of the entire decade, won the AL Cy Young despite not having the golden stat for the writers and is now happily engaged. This guy is my hero. He gives me hope I can overcome these problems and one day be happy in life. I'm already on my way but it truly means something to see someone with these same problems succeed.

The best thing is to realize you have worth and value. And a lot of people that care about you. Hang in there bro. I have struggle with depression my whole life. Some days are better than others, but it is still there.

Yeah I'm in a similar situation to you. I was absolutely atrocious up until this year when I actually started getting help but it never completely goes away. I know what it's like to have good days and bad days. These past few days have sucked for me even though there probably wasn't a real reason to feel down.

Yep, you just have to do things that are fun and that you enjoy.
