Good now we will see players actually trying. If Bonds does his usual slow trout on a double that could be a triple I bet a few players will be pissed.

Hardly. If players on his own team don't get pissed at him for doing it in games that count, then why would a bunch of guys he plays with once a year give 2 piles of beetle dung?

I really dislike this little experiment. To me, it is nothing more than a ratings ploy. I feel that the All-Star game definitely needed a kick in the pants, but this isn't the way to go about it.

What if players, in trying to play oh so hard to get that homefield advantage for their team get hurt?

Also, the thought of some scrub from Detroit, Milwaukee, Pittsburgh or one of the weak teams deciding who gets homefield advantage in games they will never play in just irks me. It is almost laughable.

Man, the way baseball is headed, its really a shame that Charlie O Finley is dead. He would have been right at home in today's game, with his day-glo orange balls, amongst other things.

The only good thing about that overwhelmingly annoying ad campaign is all the jokes that can be made from it.

I've been called a baseball purist many times.
but i don't get why people have a problem with the home field advantage thing.
I'd rather see home field advantage decided by an actual game than by 'is it an even year or an odd?' that's just stupid!

Some rational reasons why this is a good idea and it's fair
            1. makes more sense than 'what year is it?'
            2. adds meaning to the AS game
            3. better than giving it to the team with the best record, because you don't know what the records would be if they played in the other league.
            4. It allows players from lowly teams to make a difference in post season, 'Hank Blalock.' I see this a Great thing.
            5. We'll never have a tie this way
            6. Although I was dissappointed in the outcome, Last nights game was a great one.

I agree that it was a great game, and although the players were quick to respond that the game was no different than any other all-star game, it definitely felt more tense to me.
