    Re: Rickey\'s back

Haha, when I read the thread title, I thought it would be pertaining to his back, not him coming back. He's getting pretty old, it will be interesting to see how he fares in the major leagues. Lima made a smooth transition.

                  Re: Rickey\'s back

This could be a very good move for the Dodgers and it's one that isn't very risky. He's only hitting .224 with the Newark Bears tho. So if he's going to have an impact it'll be through walks and the threat of the stolen base.

In some ways I think it's kinda sad that a Major league team is taking a chance on a 44 yr old guy. It almost seems like Henderson will never give up the game barring a major injury or if a team doesn't pick him up.

In some ways I find that to be a great quality but at some point you gotta pack your bags and call it a career.

As for Juan Gone in KC....I've said in another thread that that would be a bad move imo because I view Gonzalez as a petulant, lazy player who can be a cancer in the clubhouse. Tho no one can deny his power at the plate.

                        Re: Rickey\'s back

TO, I agree with you about Juan Gone as far as his attitude goes, but in no way can this be considered a bad move for the Royals.

Juan may be a little baby, but the man can rake. The fact that the Royals are actually trying to acquire someone for once says a lot.

This is a win-win proposition for KC, because either they end up going to the playoffs because Juan will have given them more run production, or they fall short.

Either way, it looks like the Royals will have their first winning season in a long time. Their young kids will gain the experience of being in a pennant race, which will pay big dividends later on, and if they get Juan it will show the fans that David Glass does care even a little bit about putting a winner on the field.

If they fall short, oh well, at least they made an effort. It won't be like the famous White Sox white flag trades of '97, where they were in contention at the break, but decided to host a fire sale anyway. That really pissed off a lot of fans.

Win or lose, for what they would be giving up, Juan is worth the potential clubhouse headaches he may bring.
