I saw him pitch in rookie league when he was a starter and he gave up a hit in a clutch situation. He was really pissed at himself and when the catcher threw the ball back to him he didn't even put his glove. Just let it hit him in right in the chest. He was a head case, but he had a certain intensity that made him fun to watch.

yeah that's why he was on my list. I used to love watching him pitch. He always brought so much intesity and it cracked me up how he'd turn around and look at the pitch speed display and get fired up at it. I'm able to separate the bonehead from the profession, like I try to do with most athletes or celebrities.

That's not too bad, 16 players on my list are from the NL West.

Ron Oester was awesome. He still is. I unfortunately was at the game sitting two rows behind home when Mookie Wilson slid into his knee, spikes-up, and pretty much ended Ronnie O's career.

This is based on players I have seen, so pretty much guys from around the mid '80's on.

                                C - Mike Piazza
                                1B - Todd Helton
                                2B - Craig Biggio
                                3B - Chipper Jones
                                SS - Cal Ripken, Jr.
