    My "Adjusted" Home Run totals

hey guys i decided to write something that many of you may find interesting. I was compelled to do this simply because i am a stat nerd and it's just something i love to do so with out further ado i will introduce my adjusted career home run totals and how i calculated them (my theory might be a bit flawed but i am not Einstein so give me a break) I took 2 of the most prolific power hitters that the game has ever seen (Ken Griffey jr. and Mickey Mantle) and have adjusted their home run totals by factoring in the main what if's of their careers which would be No injuries. i have done this purely for fun and if you want to criticize me i am perfectly fine with that so here we go

    First up Ken Griffey Junior
-Missed a staggering 418 games between ages 31 and 36
-factor in no strike of 1994 and no injury in 1995 and Juniors maximum amount of games he missed would be 560 out of a possible 1,296.

560 games is the maximum amount of games ken griffey could have missed (non injured years he averaged around 145 per year but i don't have that much time to do math )

According to Baseball-reference.com Junior's 162 game home run average would be 39 home runs. Ken Griffey Junior's career home runs right now is 630 now factor in 6 seasons of junior averaging 39 homers a year you arrive at the total of 864 home runs. add in the amount he would have hit in 1994 and 1995 (which would be 57 in 1994 and 40 in 95') you arrive at the astounding total of 958 career home runs. This number comes out if griffey played all 162 games for those 8 seasons. Since he usually averaged 145 games a season it is safe to say that he would have amassed over 900 Career home runs but regardless this pushes Ken Griffey jr. At least 138 homers ahead of barry for their respective careers

    Now for mantle...
Using baseball Reference once again i arrived at mantle's 162 game season average of 36 home run's per year. In total mantle missed 305 games in his career (the majority coming within his last 6 years of his carrer) i arrived at the total of 752. (might be a little more flawed than griffs but i am not perfect)

so now if everything went according to plan the top 5 home runs hitters currently would look something like

Ken Griffey Junior 958 Home Runs
    Barry Bonds 762 Home Runs
    Hank Aaron 755 Home runs
    Mickey Mantle 752 Home runs
    Babe Ruth 714 Homers

Now what if babe did not pitch during the start of his career (thats for another post )

Guys thanks for reading and i hope you enjoyed it if you want me to do other totals for different players than just ask i can even do pitchers if you want. thanks once again and i hope you enjoyed it
