$20 million/year isn't paying Fielder because that is what they offered him.

Does $5 million/yr really mean that much more for you and your family.

He has grown up in the Brewers system and has a good friend in Weeks plus his family likes the area.

It will be interesting to see if they both stay and ride it out with teams or bolt. I really don't think Fielder is like Favre and bolt to the Cubs to stick it to the Brewers.

Fielder doesn't want to DH, either.

I think not. Also. Pujols? The Cubs? Why would he want to go from a contending team to a near last place team?
Ok, you didn't read well enough. It is possible for a GM to go after more than one player at a position. I am saying a big time GM would get one or the other.

Pena is a free agent after this season.

Pujols makes a team that is 3-4 seasons away into an immediate threat with a couple weapons. Geo, Pujols, Barney, Castro, Ramirez, Byrd....those are 6 pretty good players, and with the right direction that Pujols could set, they could be on the rise. The Cubs also may have found their replacement for right or left field. This LaHair kid is hitting .500 and hitting the ball hard off good pitchers. That would cost them a total of 500,000$ for the 2012 season which would help.

You didn't read my post very clearly. I said Pujols will most likely stay in STL. I said if he is to go somewhere else, it is probably Chicago. I know a couple guys that went to Maplewoods after Albert went there, and they all recall his head coach in college saying his dream was to play at Wrigley Field everyday at some point in his career. Very credible sources for me as well so I don't not believe it. Not saying it's going to happen, just where I think his place he'd want to go is if not the Cards.

If I had the choice of Fielder or Pujols as a Cubs fan, I'd take Fielder. Both great players, just more years left on Fielders tag than Pujols. Tough choice, just what I'd say. I think the Brewers just can't make him happy enough, not a big enough market for him. He obviously wants the huge market scenario like New York, LA, Boston, Chicago.

It does to the MLBPA. It does to Scott Boras.

The Brewers offered 5/100. Fielder (Boras) wants 8/200.

You think the Giants winning the World Series means anything? Last year was a fluke. They just got hot at the right time.

You're right, they won last year that means they're a super team that will win every year, Last time I checked they wont even make the playoffs this year.

Given the history of guys with bodies like Fielders, I would say that's far from a certainty.

His dad played 14 years lol. I think Pujols great shape, and Fielders fatness just cancel out. You could probably get the same amount of years out of them. Fielder will be a lot cheaper, though.

I think that's about right: each probably has 5 productive years left. Which is why they want 8-10 year deals, of course.

Giants' main problem is their offense. Fielder/Pujols going there would make them repeat favorites in the NL West for a long while. Let's not act as if they just suck and thoroughly got lucky. Their pitching is like, top 3 in baseball.

As for Atlanta not being a place to go if you want to win, well, that's laughable considering the insane youth and skill on the team right now, especially with our pitching. Doesn't matter though, we have Freeman and the Braves would never spend 200 million to get Fielder/Pujols anyway.

I figured the Angels might be a destination for Pujols, but with the emergence of Trumbo, Morales coming back from injury later (if he's even a guy to be counted on at this point) and Vernon Wells' contract, seems very unlikely.

Your saying Fielder will not be productive when he turns 32? This guy isn't your typical fat guy. This guy takes great care of his body. He isn't some fat *** that eats cheeseburgers and candy all day. I see both of them being productive for many years to come. Pujols has many years left and so does Fielder. David Ortiz still can hit a little bit and he's maybe a future Fielder of his age, except Fielder takes care of himself.

Not sure about "scary", but it will be pretty good. Most guys on the lineup are under 30. Except for Chipper and Alex Gonzalez, I think.

I think the future of the NL East is Washington and Atlanta more than Philadelphia and Atlanta. Could be wrong.
