I think it had to do with the placement of Lee's pitch. It was up near the head. Zito hit Fielder in the waist area. Just a guess, but that might explain it.

Well, in fairness Fielders waist area spans almost to both coaches boxes...so it's pretty hard not to hit. And Zito doesn't throw hard enough to hurt a toddler. I saw that and thought of Bill Cosby's old old standup routine, "Is that a piece of paper, did someone throw a piece of paper at me?"

Plus, Fielder is 270 pounds of cushion and Zito throws a 45 MPH fastball. I don't think he's going to mind too much.

Zito didn't get suspended because it wasn't at the head and basically didn't look as bad. If not for the history between Fielder and the Giants, we could have reasonably believed there was nothing to it. Lee probably doesn't get suspended if he stopped after the first pitch, it was the second one that reaffirmed his intentions and likely cost him five games.

This is not the first time Cliff has thrown at someone's head. He about killed Griffey Jr. when he was a Red a couple years ago.

I have no problem if you wanna hit someone, but to throw at their head is where I draw the line. I welcome the suspension by the MLB.

cause snyder was coming home and he tripped Lee when Lee was going to cover home, it was stupid but Lee doesnt like to be showed up i guess.

Thats cause Zito's fastball couldnt hurt my 2 yr old

Fielder should have bare-handed the ball and then flipped it back to Zito like he did. That would have been awesome.

Cliff Lee hit Jimmy Rollins in the face back in 07 so he has a history of throwing/hitting batters in the head.

How is Cliff Lee's fastball different?

That's got to be stretching it a bit (didn't look it up, could be wrong) unless that is Cliff Lee's max versus Zito's average.

Either way, I would have a hard time believing Lee would be suspended as opposed to Zito because he has more of a chance at hurting the batter.

I would imagine that really wasn't the point of his post though...
